Training
To Learn - To Serve - To Advance. The motto of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. The primary goal of Air Cadets is to provide youth with training in citizenship, leadership, aviation, physical fitness and other material. This goal is accomplished through a few avenues.
Local headquarters training (LHQ) training occurs during the school year where senior cadets, officers and civilian instructors provide cadets with courses on these subjects.
Teams such as the band, drill (with and without) team, biathlon, and marksmanship team provide cadets with valuable skills during the weekend.
The squadron also participates in field training exercises (FTXs) where cadets participate in survival training, canoeing, abseiling and other outdoor activities.
Flying familiarization is done through the local gliding centre in Chatham, Ontario, where cadets have the opportunity to fly inside of a glider!
Finally, cadets have the opportunity for summer training at one of the many cadet summer training centres (CSTCs) in Canada. Courses include physical fitness, aviation, leadership, survival training and music. Cadets may also be selected for gliding and powered flight courses which are also offered to a few cadets with ground school training and other qualifications supplied by 364 Squadron during the training year.
